Weekly reflections (Week 4)

Monument Mountain Tech High video thoughts:

Pacific School of Independence and Inquiry (PSII):

This week, we went on a tour of PSII, and gained insight into a new style of teaching. Similar to the Monument Mountain High Tech video, the school focuses on free inquiry projects. These projects give students the ability to gage their own learning and expand their independence in the school system. I found it really interesting listening to one of the learners discuss the inquiry project they had been working on for the last 1.5 years. They wanted to go to med school after they completed their grade 12 year, and so the project focused on creating a model heart. This replica was 3D, made with materials that would be suitable inside the body, and was even working to give it a pulse/pump. The space provided many accessibilities for students and with only 15ish students designated to each teacher they had the ability to have many 1 on 1 learning opportunities.
